LAXMAN PAHADI ROPEWAY PROJECT
(Mono-Cable Pulsed Fixed Grip Gondola Ropeway)
Laxman Pahadi, as it is popularly known, is located in Chitrakoot Dham (Karwi), the district headquarters of Chitrakoot district in the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh.
The project, being an aerial ropeway, falls under Item 7(g) of the EIA Notification 2006 and is classified as a Category ‘A’ project as per the schedule. This classification is applicable due to the interstate boundary of Madhya Pradesh being located within 5 km of the project site.
The ropeway has been developed in a single phase, with the Upper Terminal Station situated at the northern side of the Laxman Temple and the Lower Terminal Station located at the base area for passenger access.
With the objective of promoting religious tourism and providing improved transit facilities to pilgrims, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has undertaken the development of this ropeway project at Laxman Pahadi in Chitrakoot.
